Dane Baptiste

About

In 2014, he became the first Black British comic to be nominated for an award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, earning a Best Newcomer nod, changing the landscape of British comedy forever.

This set the stage for his hit BBC Three sitcom SunnyD—the first British sitcom to centre a Black Family in over 20 years, later optioned by Lionsgate for a U.S. remake involving Keenan Ivory Wayans and Saladin Patterson, and then collaborating with AMC for his works.

Dane has supported comedy heavyweights like Katherine Ryan, Reginald D. Hunter, Jim Jeffries, Bill Burr, and Eddie Griffin and Dave Chappelle across Europe, whilst racking up international TV and radio credits including Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and more.

His acclaimed live shows—Citizen Dane, Reasonable Doubts, Gold Oil and Drugs, and The Chocolate Chip—have sold out tours internationally and been featured on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.

As a writer, Dane has collaborated with Idris Elba, Charlie Brooker, and Katherine Ryan, contributing to major events like the FIFA Awards and Black British Music Awards. He continues to perform internationally at festivals in South Africa, then Netherlands; including JFL Montreal, Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals, and Moontower in Austin, while contributing to Kevin Hart’s LOL Network.
